Tree Challenge

Tree Challenge...a Civil Action for the Earth.

Tree Challenge is about creating a buzz around putting trees BACK ON THE AGENDA ....while we put them in the ground.

More trees. more shade, more cool, more moist, more stable climate, more oxygen, more carbon sink, more leaves, more mulch, more compost, more soil, more roots to hold soil, more seeds, more baby trees, more big trees, more shade, more cool....

Tree Challenge is a Civil Action. Anyone can do it.

It goes like this....
Plant a tree that's indigenous to the place where you live.
Now invite three people to each plant an indigenous tree and then to each invite three people to plant an indigenous tree and so keep moving the Tree Challenge on and out.

Take a picnic while you do it!

(There's no limits. Go for more if you want... more people, more trees. It's all good for the Earth.)

When you've planted your tree, take a picture and go on over to the Tree Challenge on Facebook, and exercise your bragging rights. Tell your story and upload your pic.

We're not waiting any longer. We're taking action.

More trees, more shade, more cool.

Good Tips...
Seek permission for planting your tree, and most appropriate place, for private and public land.
Look for a Community Natives Nursery in your area for stock of indigenous trees.
Plant your tree where it won't get eaten or mown.
For Australian native trees, use only compost, no chemical fertilisers.
Look after your tree till it can look after itself.
Send the Tree Challenge OS.

And if you've already planted heaps of native trees in your life, please do take up the Tree Challenge....you're equipped with great skills to help and inspire others.

Go to Tree Challenge on Facebook.

If not on Facebook, leave your Tree Challenge story in the Comments here.

  1. The first trees for the Tree Challenge have gone in the ground! On Saturday 21st July 2012, Ilyhana, Rose, Alex and Kerri and young Ben added four indigenous trees to a recovering rainforest along a creek...two Brown Pines, a Firewheel and a Eumundi Quandong.
The fruiting trees will bring the birds, who'll drop more seeds to add to the forest, and the trees will help to stabilise the creek bank.
We loved getting our hands and feet dirty.
